1. Location freedom

 

Affiliate marketing gives you the possibility to work from anywhere you want. You just need your laptop and a stable internet connection.

 

You can literally travel the world while money keeps coming into your bank account. Obviously it’s not like this in the beginning. You need to put in the time and effort into growing your business.

 

BUT once you get the ball rolling, you can literally be on a constant vacation if that’s what you want.

 

For example, at the time of writing this, I’m in Spain (it’s great by the way. Highly recommend visiting Spain if you haven’t yet).

 

2. Passive Income

 

The dream that everybody pines to when first getting into the online business space. I will start by telling you that passive income doesn’t exist in the form that the YouTube gurus portray it.

 

You can’t just solve all your financial problems one time and then sit on your ass for the rest of your days.  However, what you can do is set up your affiliate business in such a way that you will need to work less and less.

 

At some point, you will not need to work for the entire day anymore. In some days you can work for 3-4 hours, in other days you don’t really need to do much at all.

 

Affiliate marketing can be quite passive if you set things up properly.

 

3. No product creation

 

Probably the most important reason people are drawn to affiliate marketing is that there is no product creation involved.

 

Product creation can be a huge hassle. If you don’t have the right tools, you can waste a lot of money and energy just for this process.

The costs associated with starting an affiliate business are quite low, depending on which traffic source you’re planning to use.

 

If you choose a free traffic source, like SEO, you don’t really need much money to start. You can start a blog with as little as $100 which you need to pay for hosting.

 

However, this method is quite slow. You will need to invest a ton of time into putting out quality content and optimizing for SEO.

 

If you start an affiliate blog and you put in the work in the beginning, this can become quite passive in the long run. Once your articles start ranking, they tend to stay there for a long time.

The other option (and the one I recommend if you have a budget) is running paid ads. This is my favorite method and the one I use the most.

For example, if you have an affiliate blog and you write an article which includes affiliate links, the number of people who can read that article is unlimited. Also, if you have a profitable Facebook ads, you can literally pour money into it and you will rapidly scale it.

6. Leverage Popular Brands

 

Almost every successful company has an affiliate program which you can leverage. For example, you can promote huge brands like Uber. How much selling would you need to do? Do you need to convince people to trust Uber?

 

You can also start an Amazon affiliate site (which unfortunately I can’t really recommend you anymore. Amazon is not paying high commissions anymore. You are much better off promoting digital products)

 

Most well known companies have affiliate programs. And if you’re just starting out and people don’t know who you are, you have the option of leveraging the brands that you’re promoting.

Affiliate marketing is definitely worth it. It’s one of the best ways to make money online and it will continue to stay like this for a long time.

 

My advice is to not get discouraged if you don’t see results straight away. This business model requires time and effort to master. Once you start getting a hang of it, it will become easier and easier.

 

Also, you will be able to automate a lot of things in order to have more time to stay with your family and travel. If you have a couple of hundreds of dollars to invest in ads, I highly suggest you do.
